Mesut Ozil is convinced Arsenal are still in the
Premier League title race, despite being 11
points adrift of leaders Leicester City with eight
games to play.
The Germany international admits Leicester City
deserve to be at the top of the table but has not
given up hope of overtaking the Foxes as long
as his side can remain focused
The Gunners were top of the table at the turn of
the year, but have slipped to third place in the
league after winning just three of their last 10
matches – though they do have a game in hand
on the Foxes.
Despite the huge gap to the top, Ozil still
believes Arsenal can chase down the leaders,
though he admits they cannot afford to make
any more mistakes if they are to pull off the
ultimate comeback.
“I do not think it impossible,” he told the
German newspaper
“Although there are only a few games left,
Leicester have a run against some of the big
teams to come. We ourselves must in any case
not allow any more slip-ups. The hope of the
title is still there – we have the players for the
title.”
Ozil, who has 19 assists this season and is
closing in on Thierry Henry’s division record, is
full of praise for Leicester’s unlikely title tilt,
though is hoping they slip up in the run-in.
